Englisch <> Deutsch Wörterbuch app good for

Ive used SlovoEd before with my Windows Mobile and bought this as soon as the German-English one was available. Its an outstanding dictionary--huge lexicon, pronunciation (including IPA), part of speech, gender, etc., and even has "Wendungen" (expressions; that is how its used colloquially). Great for the serious professional or student. It goes far beyond the simple, free "phrase books" on here. The other major DE-EN dictionary in iTunes isnt much cheaper and the price is in line with their Windows offerings (were just spoiled on here so far with the cheap prices :) ). That said, the only reason I didnt give 5 stars was because it is indeed a little pricey compared to your average app offering on here. All in all, a great dictionary with a simple interface and much easier to lug around than my Harper Collins unabridged :) .

I had this dictionary on my Palm and really relied on it for my German studies. This edition includes the pronunciations which you had to pay extra for on the Palm edition. However, this edition does not include the utility that allows you to create "flash cards" of words. Thats a set back for me, because it was a handy feature so thats why I give this 4 not 5 stars. Otherwise, a good application.

This is certainly the best German/English dictionary Ive had on the iPad. Great feature set, everything a tap away, no problems, and superb content, no need to be online.

A dictionary is only as good as its content, and this one is from the best source possible for a German dictionary (PONS GmbH). The definitions are clear and complete. There are a huge number of examples. There is built–in audio for many words. Everything is hyperlinked.

Some bad moments

I just bought this application. While the company advertises that you can listen to the pronunciation of the words, this feature isnt available on roughly 75% of the words in the dictionary. Although the dictionary seems fairly extensive, it also is poorly organized, which can make finding the word you want time consuming.

I want to return this one. There is no verb conjugation charts, which are so well done in their Spanish<>English dictionary. Also, very few of the words have pronounciation. Please get this fixed and get us an update slovo, you really owe us on this one.

Dictionary has no verbs conjugation tables, thing that other cheaper German dictionaries have. I bought this expensive dictionary because it has Flashcards option, which should be useful for learning new words. But it is useless for me. You cant filter words already learned without removing them. You cant export - import words list or manipulate with selected words in any way other than add/remove to Flashcards or Favorites.
